What mail server can I or should I use with MaxBulk Mailer?

MaxBulk Mailer works with all kind of mail servers except sometimes with Microsoft Exchange servers when the NTLM protocol is the only choice for authenticating, a quite rare situation though. As a result you can perfectly use your Internet provider mail server to send your emails, if they provide you one, it is free. Another good solution is to purchase a web hosting package, you not only get some web space but you also get access to a mail server. Note however that both services use to be shared between many users so it is a good idea not to overload the mail servers with huge delivery of emails, you may be banned or suspended temporally. Some mail servers may also have a delivery limit per hour or per day just to protect themselves from bulk emailing. In either cases MaxBulk Mailer has a solution, a few settings that lets you regulate the delivery pace. It is explained here: Sending a message through a server with a daily or an hourly delivery limit. The idea here is to be prudent, discrete and respectful.

What about free servers like Gmail? Well, you better run away from free servers like those. They are not suitable for bulk emailing at all, they have very strong limitations, less than 200 messages per day, sender address replaced by the account gmail address, 'Reply To' header ignored..., and they are permanently being monitored against bulk emailing. Free servers are for sending single emails to familly and friends only. Any other use may be considered an abuse.

You also may have heard of bulk emailer software with built-in mail servers or people running their own mail servers. Running your own mail server is free, simple and fast. And best of all, there is no limitations at all. But, this is the favorite delivery mode of spammers worldwide and system administrators know that. Be prepared, up to 50% of your messages will never get through, they will be deleted by spam filters. It is explained here: Using your own SMTP server, advantages and drawbacks. It is your choice but using a regular mail server you will get your message delivered, at a slower pace but delivered after all.

There is however another possibility, probably the best one out there but it is not free, a dedicated bulk email server. In the last years many bulk server services have been appearing, and they all work great with MaxBulk Mailer. These are the ones we know:

- Authsmtp
- Amazon SES
- RealSender
- SMTP.com
- MailJet
- SendGrid
- Email Server Hosting
- Mandrill
