What is the proper way to add a URL in the text?

Maybe this is a silly question. But just to be on the safe side, when I want to add a URL in a message, do I simply type the URL, as in http://www.somecompany.com or do I need to do something else?

I am asking because when I simply add the URL, then what is delivered to the recipient is a somewhat different link that starts with the link of the server where my lm directory resides and then somehow redirects to the intended URL (if you know what I mean). So, when I click on it, it does go to the intended URL but "through" my site, if what I say makes any sense. :?

Aside from being confused about what exactly happens here, some people have told me that this may cause some mail servers to reject my message.

The way you add an hyperlink depends on the message format, what format are you using, Plain text, Styled text,...?

The redirect you are talking about is the MLM opening tracking system. There is no other way to do that.

Hi again! To follow up from my previous post several months ago, I use styled text. Please have a look at the screenshot I attach. The URL I typed was:
http://www.cyprusconferences.org/es2018
The screenshot shows what has appeared in the mailing list (you can see how the URL is formed). The full URL is:

http://www.cs.ucy.ac.cy/~george/lm/lm.p ... g%2Fes2018

I think this issue appears only when I post to mailing list. With individual addresses I think they get the link as I type it. Thanks for any help!

With styled text the best is to use the Hyperlink Manager and hyperlink tags. With current 8.6.6 you can even select some text and press the Hyperlink button (above the message field) in order to add an hyperlink to that selected text.
