I know that this post is about two years old, but I just wanted to point out that since that time I found NO solution for this issue. I have to always split my lists in 20000 emails per session and send sessions in sequence.
Note: quit and restart MaxBulk mailer after each session is MANDATORY, otherwise it will crash systematically after about 21k/23k emails sent.
(MaxBulk mailer 8.4.6, OS X 10.11.6)

It has to be something on your system else I would have more reports. Can it be your antivirus? You can also look at this page for clues: The software doesn't start, runs very slowly or crashes often, how comes?.

Hello I don't have any antivirus, neither any issue with any other software installed. It's so odd!

Have you considered to use current 8.6.2?

Yes I was wondering whether upgrading could fix the issue. However the issue persisted across different versions, so I'm not so inclined to do so. But I think I could give it a last chance...
