Yes, there is an issue with the server. A permission problem or perhaps a wrong PHP setting. MLM doesn't use any hack, it is standard PHP using standard mySQL tables.

My support team suggest a problem with the configuration of lm.php.
You suggest a problem with the server configuration.

'lm.php' has no configuration other that the file privileges and also the enclosing 'lm' folder. It is a standard php file made of plain text that a php processor should simply run as is. By default it shows a login screen like this one: http://www.maxprog.com/site/scripts/list_manager/demo/lm.php
