cannot upload new lists to mlm to append to existing list..

I cannot upload a list and append or update it to a mysql stored list, but I can upload the list as a new list. All other functions seem to work fine - I can subscribe and unsubscribe etc,

Any ideas?

What error do you get?

just get a red coloured error message in bulk mailer saying "error"

Are you always uploading using the 'Upload the MLM' menu and the 'Append' option?

yes, although I sometimes try the Update option...

The update is not for appending entries, it is for updating existing data, it is a very different thing.

ok, thanks for that - didn't realise - just tried again using Append and got the usual error - "An error ocurred during the the list upload process"

Have you check if despite the error the list was appended?

no it does not append, but if you try to show the remote list you tried to append after getting the error, Maxbulk mailer hangs with a "downloading" message - necessitating a force quit.

What about the 'Overwrite' option then? Of course you have to upload the full list, not only the new entries...

not tried that, and frankly not overly confident in doing that - if there is a bug/ or something we cant find wrong with my settings, I think I'd rather live with creating new lists, but it seems very odd behaviour

As far as I know there is no bug, else I would have received another bug report and it would also fail for me. The problem is very likely with the server.

The overwrite option is the default, it is what it is used each time you modify a remote list in MaxBulk Mailer.

Can you explain the difference between the action performed by 'update' and the action performed by 'append'. Yes, I have looked at the dictionary definition, but this has not helped. Many thanks.

When you append data you add the new entries and you reject the duplicates. When you update data you add the new entries and use the duplicates to update the entries already in the list.
