Working with Large Distribution Lists -- How do you do it?

Hi,

For the first time, I'm working with a 12,000 recipient list.

It has been a stop and go process. I've tried several alternatives and have yet to find a "seamless" way of doing this. I'm hoping you all have suggestions to help me out.

Here are some observations and a few questions.

My ISP is Earthlink. My domain host is GoDaddy. Earthlink does not limit the number of relays, per day, but limits the size of the message sent.

GoDaddy limits the relays to 250/email box. I have 100 email boxes.

1. My first set up was to use a burst mode with all of the GoDaddy boxes selected and 5 "connections". I send all mail "singly".

The problem with GoDaddy was that they "reset their servers" at around 1:00am. When they did, MBM stopped cold. I would have preferred to do most of the mailing when I was asleep and didn't need the computer, but this made it difficult.

2. Using one Earthlink account: This was much faster, but I got far more Undeliverd Mail. Anyone know why? I stopped using Earthlink.

3. I did bursts with GoDaddy, but with far fewer accounts. Ten at a time was much faster than 100 at a time. Anyone know why?

I'd like to try splitting the list up and using scheduled deliveries.

How would you split a list? Is there a way to do it by name, alphebetically?

Will MBM run sequential schedules?

What have I missed here? I'd really like to hear from people working with large lists. This has been a trial and error process and I'd like to get it right next month, when I do it again.

Thanks.

You can split a list by selecting entries and using the new list with selection menu.
