Unexpected bounce results

Hi there :)

I've received unexpected bounce results on a campaign I sent out last night - of the 15,000 emails sent, I have received 12,000 hard bounce backs (Bad destination mailbox address).

I have checked these addresses with the E-mail verifier and it tells me that they are all valid addresses. These are SMTP addresses too (ie NOT aol, hotmail, etc.) so I can't understand why they have bounced back :?

Can anyone offer an explanation as to why this has happened?

Many thanks

There are servers that will respond an address is good despite it is bad, this is the reason why eMail Verifier only can catch around 70% of bad addresses, for the others you will get a bounce. There is very little to do here.

Hi Stanbusk

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly :D

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand how things work...

eMail Verifer is verifying that all these addresses are valid (the bounced emails accounted for about 80% of my mailing list).

This 80% of previously validated addresses have bounced back as bad... does that mean that eMail Verfier only accurately validated the remaining 20% of my list??

I'm confused as to whether these addresses are good or bad :?
