Split Transaction

I tried looking in the online manual, but I am having trouble knowing how to activate a Split Transaction.

I can group transactions to mimic a Split, but what are the actual steps to making a Split Transaction work?

A split and a group is the same thing. The difference is the creation order. You make a group selecting several transactions and using the 'Transaction > Group' menu. You make a split creating the root transaction and using the 'Transaction > Split' menu to add the other ones.
