The reconciliation total on the Account Statement does not include the brought forward reconciliation total and serves no purpose. It should agree with the bank statement balance.
I don¬°t understand what you mean with 'brought forward reconciliation total'. What's that? The reconciliation total is the total of the checked transactions.

I am looking at an Account Statement for a bank account for the current year. The first line shows the previous balance as at the start of the current year and is ticked as reconciled. Then follow the transactions some of which are ticked as reconciled.
Then there is a reconciled total which does not include the previous balance. The final total also excludes the previous balance. It is not possible to relate to the bank statement balance.
I believe the first total is of the transactions you see on screen, what do you think is wrong? By the way, have you tried to reindex your document? It is the 'File > Tools > Check Data' menu.
