Problems sending web page

Aloha, I have been trying to send out our webpage for our monthly newsletter and for some reason this month it is taking FOREVER. I have it set to go 300 per hour, but it has taken over an hour just to send 130.

Also, I started it yesterday at 400 every 1 1/2 and it only sent out 2 batches, then didn't do anything overnight for some reason. Then, when I got onto the computer, it seemed to count down to the next batch then totally got locked up with only 10 minutes to go.

When I first used this software, it worked GREAT - but I don't know what is going on now.

This is the webpage I am sending. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Your message is 124KB in 1440 lines. I don't think it is a size problem. The speed of sending depends entirely of the SMTP port bandwidth and the time it takes to the server to respond.

Are you using a Mac or a PC. I asked that because on a PC an anti-virus can be the cause.

So there is no anti-virus implied. Then it is because of your bandwidth or the server response time. How many connections are you using?

Thanks for your reply.

No I do not have any anti-virus software on my Mac. I am sending out at only 1 connection at a time. I emailed my host and asked if there was a problem because I got a report that it said that I had over 100 retries (see below). They wrote back to me and said there was no problem on their end. They do have a 500/hr cap on emails, which is why I have it set to send only 300/hr and 1 at a time.

Following your delivery report you are sending 1 message per second. This is a usual rate when using only 1 connection. With 5 connection you can send up to 3 messages per second and more than 10 per second with your own server and 10 or more connections.

I don't see anything wrong here. If you have a 500 messages per hour cap, sending 1 message per second is fine.

Anyway why do you want to send messages faster?

The problem actually is that it is taking over 30 seconds to send just one email. This is the report that I received back from my host support.

"It looks like your connection timed out. It was taking your mailer an average of 33 seconds to send out 1 email in order for our server to provide the best serivce possible for the hundreds of users we host on one server we have set a timeout value of 20 or less seconds. Meaning if your client can not or does not reply within that time frame the server assumes it is idle or no longer active and dropps the connection in order to prevent email traffic from becoming congested. Unfortuantely a shared server environment is not designed to meed the needs of large mailing lists. If you would like to move your mailing list to a virtual private server or a dedicated server we understand and we would be able to modify your MX entries if you make that request."

I'm just really confused as to why it is taking so long to send 1 message. Is it the software or my host?

Thanks again

I am sure it is not the software else you would find other similar cases in this forum. There isn't any. MaxBulk goes at server speed. However I heard once WiFi connections can be a problem. Is your computer connected to a router thru WiFi?

I didn't know if there was a speed, besides number of connections, to set the software to. I guess there is not.

Yeah it is connected through WiFi. Maybe I will try connecting directly to the internet next time to see if that helps.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this for me. I really appreciate it!

Yes, make a test with a cable connection and keep me posted about your results.

WiFi can cause micro-disconnection that forces IP packets to be sent again and again. On normal use you would not realize..
