Port Forwarded MySQL Connection

I typically connect to my servers MySQL database via port forwarding thru SSH to port 8001.

This works dandy for Navicat and other programs. I just connect to "localhost", and 8001 instead of 3306.

For some reason MaxBulkMailer won't connect and sends this error:
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

What do I need to change?

MaxBulk Mailer only supports direct connection to the server. I guess it is the problem here.

The only way is to use a direct connection, the real server address and the real port.
