Overview panel bank balance values confusion

All I wanted was to view a balance at a specific date on the Overview screen (to ensure I wasn't going overdrawn at the end of the month).

On the Report panel when I select a bank it displays the running balance down the side - so say at the end of January it states a value of £100.

But when I go to the Overview Panel and select Banks and January it gives Reconciled +1500 and Balance of -2400 and Pending of -3800.
Even when I select the full transaction history on the Report panel (eg. start from 2013 to 2017) I cannot figure out what the Overview Panel values refer to.

How are these values calculated?

The date selection on the overview panel affects everything except 'BALANCE' types and categories. Indeed the 'BALANCE' numbers will always be the current balance. If you want to see the BALANCE of such account at a given date you need to use the Account Statement report.
