I have used this product for many years and was asked by a client to send a email campaign - with the result that I had to use a virtual server. His Outlook facilities are fine both sending and receiving but on MBM I cannot work through the problem of SMTP. I have tried every combination, redownload the software, changing his email address etc. So with no other choice I contacted my Fasthost Host with the following result
"Your virtual server will only accept SMTP on port 25. You also need to make sure that you have the port open on your server and that the service is running.

I have tried connecting to your server via telnet on port 25 and could not establish a connection. This means that either the service is not listening on port 25 or you do not have port 25 open on your server firewall. This will be why you were unable to send mail through your server.

Regarding the sending of mail using our shared platform, there are limits in place. The mailboxes we provide are not made for bulk e-mailing. The mailboxes are designed for normal personal or business use. The reason why we have restrictions is reduce the chance of our mail server being blacklisted."

But again it doesn't work - this is what I had sent them

"I am aware that you do not help with 3rd party software, but I had it working perfectly and he managed to send out 5000 emails. The account was put on hold by you as he looked as though he was 'spamming' - which i was assured he was not. I was advised to put him on my virtual server which i did but since then the bulk email sender(MBM) is not working. His outlook is working correctly. On the MBM he keeps getting stuck on the smtp we have tried smpt.intellectualtechnologies.co.uk with and without SSL. We have tried the same with mail,pop,apop etc. The same with POP3, ESMTP, ALL WITH OR WITHOUR PASSWORD, PLAIN, MD 5 RESPONSE, also 109.228.11.18:live-servers.net:587, also autodiscover.1.exchange2013.livemail.co.uk

Nothing appears to work - I have taken intellectualtechnologies.co.uk off the server, I have changed his email from Peter to Pete"

I REALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT I NEED TO DO NEXT - below is just one of the delivery reports

The problem is:
535 5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: authentication failure

The server says your user id, password or both are wrong.

I have sent you all the details I still cannot identify the problem - fasthosts says it is your server side problem

There is only a server side, your server. That server is retiring the error. Did you select the account in the settings panel before sending the message?
