Max OSX crash dredging apple mac mail and now will not open

Hi I was processing a big back log of bounces in a mailbox, total 100k+ emails, I split the inbox up into 8 folders to process one by one so it would be able to handle it after crashing a few times over 20k.. Now I have one folder with only 17k messages that was causing the program to crash. I split that up into two folders. Then had another crash at some point.. now when trying to open the program it is eating 100% CPU (from tops), all I can do is kill it. I cleared out the library files.. what is making this thing suck up all the CPU and not open??

Are you dropping plain text file to the application? This is the very only format supported.

All I am trying to do at this point is get the application to re-open.. why would it eat up all my CPU just opening when it was working fine at first?? How can I clear all the settings and files it is referencing upon opening it? What is it trying to do exactly when I open it other than sit there and wait for my instructions?

I didn't set it to auto check anything..

Please provide instructions for bringing it back to factory default.. I already tried sending the application to trash and reinstalling it.. that did not work.. I tried clearing out the log files in the library folders.. also did not work..

But to directly address your comment, why does the app say "Dredge Apple Mac Mail" if it is not supported..

Okay I figured out one thing interesting, some how the Rules list has multiplied itself hundreds of times... the same rules listed over and over again in order.. What would cause that?

do you know where the file is that contains the default preferences? That has all the extra rules in it.. something is triggering it to multiple the rules many times and then when it goes to reopen it takes forever even with a blank file.

If I can just erase that preference file before opening the app I should be good to go..
