This has been explained several times in this forum. Open your document with v8.4, copy the text. Close. OPen your document with v8.4.1, paste the text and save.
The bug is in 8.4 and earlier actually, not really a bug actually but it is long to explain. 8.4.1 uses a new format for saving styles that fixes this problem forever.
