1. What is the connect to server icon for and what does it do.

This is for our own testing here at Maxprog.

2. What does the sql server connect to and what is it used for.

For testing and debugging.

3. In terms of the program I'm wondering why when I add an expense item, in the Profit and Loss colum of the overview why they all register as zero, for some reason I'm not getting any totals in that colum.

Are you sure? Did you actually enter a transaction from a bank account to an expense account?

This is not the right way to do that. You have to enter a transactions in the transactions panel.
