Deletion of data when changing payee field

Hi,

I have a payee field that is:

TO 36-M COMPOUNDING

I wanted to change the 36 to 60 so I tabbed to the payee field, used my mouse to click just after the 3. I ensure that I had only the cursor showing after the 3, and the field was not highlighted (in other words text in the field was not selected) and pressed backspace. Everything after the TO is then deleted, as if the text in the field actually was highlighted (selected).

I expected only the 3 to be deleted, and then I could just add a 0 after the 6. So far nothing I tried short of typing the whole field in worked. I couldn't just edit a letter or number without losing the rest of the input in the space.

Can that be changed? Thanks.
