Deleting Files

I'm a new user (yesterday) and am about to ask a lot of "I should already know the answer" questions, but please bear with me.

I've mess up already trying to get started and want to delete everything I've done (but still keep the program in tact) to this point and start all over. How do I do that? I'm working with a new MacBook with your latest program (I hope there is just one).

All I want is a checkbook.

I guess you just need to trash the document your were working on and create a new one.
