This may be a system thing. But I say several programs, including non-Apple apps, behaving in the Lion way. Maybe you need to add or change something to be 100% complaint with Lion?
As I said, I have no access to that, no way, no code, no place to write code, no handler to use, no callbacks, nothing. As a result I have to wait for the system or libraries we use to handle that. This is beyond my scope.
I just look at the next compilers we are about to use and what you ask is supported so without doing nothing likely next versions of all our software will support that.
