Can't import addresses from Apple Mail

Hi--
When I try to import addresses from Apple Mail, it says "This Mailbox doesn't exist". I read through the forum, and it says I have to find the root folder under "On My Mac". However, I can't find anything called "On My Mac" on my mac. Is that in the library? Sorry, but I can't seem to get the import to work.

Apple Mail classify folders, only root folders under 'ON MY MAC' can be processed. Did you create any folder? If so, it has been created under 'ON MY MAC'.

Yes, I read the previous posts, but I can't find anything called "On My Mac" on my mac. Where is that folder? I even did a search for "On my Mac", and I don't get any hits. I can find lots of different folders in the Mail section, but nothing called "On My Mac".

"ON MY MAC" is just a label on Mac Mail mailboxes/folders list panel. It is written in grey, bold and capitalized.

When I look at everything listed under MAILBOXES in Apple mail, I don't have anything called "ON MY MAC". I have Inbox, under that Davidmattingly, another account, VIPs, Flagged, Drafts, Sent, Junk, Trash. Nothing called ON MY MAC.
Do I need to rename a mailbox?

Create folder and I guess "ON MY MAC" will apear. All users created folder are displayed that way.
