Are you sure port 587 is the correct port?

I've tried ports 25 & 587 as specified by my ip
- no go

It works for me on both default port 25 and 587:

By the way, you have to use the ESMTP authentication rather than POP.

No, the demo should work and should let you send messages. Try to reboot your computer and you router just in case
