Authentification problem...

Hi,

I have an authentification problem with my internet host: my sending is rejected during the very the first attempts (and accepted 5 minutes later...).

The message :
sorry, invalid MAIL FROM for open-smtp session

The host administrator thinks that theMaxBulk authentification process is incomplete...

Any info from developers ?

MaxBulk Mailer uses the standard ESMTP LOGIN, PLAIN and MD5 authentication scheme. The authentication is a very simple process. One step for PLAIN and two steps for LOGIN.

Unfortunately, I don't fully understand what you say...

Does MaxBulk authenticate with pop before sending ?
(I copy/paste your answer then to my host support...)

There are two ways to authenticate depending on what the server is expecting, sometimes it can be a POP authentication but most of the time it is an ESMTP authentication. There are several types of ESMTP authentications, the most popular are PLAIN, LOGIN and MD5. MaxBulk Mailer supports all that.

My server host requires a POP authentification before sending process. So I have selected POP in the Authentication scroll down setting menu.

I seemed to be OK but the authentication should be incomplete (as my host support told me) so the server closes the connection : it's because the server sees that the MAIL FROM address is different from the account address during authentification...
555 sorry, invalid MAIL FROM for open-smtp session
(of course I put the very same email address everywhere : FROM/ANSWER TO/ACCOUNT)

Where is the problem ?...

I don't know, have you asked your server support? Maybe you have to use a given email address as the sender...

Yes, the given address is the ACCOUNT one.
So I did it. And I use this very same address too for FROM and ANSWER TO fields.

So I am coherent and should completely fulfill their requirements.
But obviously they aren't...

Are you sure that MaxBulk completely authenticates before sending ?

There is only one way to perform a POP authentication. Can you paste here the authentication lines from the connection log?

I can see the explanation here:

Yes Stanbusk I saw it.
Its says that the FROM email has to be the same than the connexion login used in POP authentication.

In MaxBulk parameters, I asked for that...
But unfortunately I am rejected by the server.
:?

My host support tells me that there should be somewhere in MaxBulk an option to select saying : 'server requires authentication'

OK so if the POP authentication made by MaxBulk is standard and complete (?), the problem comes from my host server process...

Your host says that the POP address has to match the sender address. I guess they mean the POP account ID that is perhaps your email address. If so, that address should be your sender address as well. This is what I understand.
