AppleScript for some automated process

Bonjour à tous,

Going on intense testing of MBM to check if it suits my company's needs. First had a look at DirectMail which has a great tool with tracking, then discovered MLM which is really a good point for us to maintain our journalists and press contacts to send our press releases. Sadly, it seems we can't have the best of the 2 worlds for now ...

So, I'm investigating how we can adopt MBM and make it fit our needs. First of all, it's clear we'll rely on MLM and mySQL remote lists management (abut 70 lists). About that, sync of local changes to the remote lists would also be a great expected improvement.

I have a question about AppleScript. As we own an Xserve hosted in a datacenter , my aim is to work on mails and choose lists locally on a client computer and then copy the .mbm file onto the server via AFP so MBM can run on the server and deliver the mail locally on our smtp service. It will give us the fastest speed we can reach for delivering large amount of mail (12000 for a campaign) and will minimize upload bandwith. The problem is that I don't have any control on the GUI when I'm not in the datacenter. So I need an almost automated process.

To achieve that, I made some tests with a dedicated folder and an folder action that detects when I copy a file in it, then open it with MBM, switch to the local account and then send mail. The problem is that I don't know how to detect when delivering mail from MBM is finished so that the script can send a CloseDocument command, save the changes and move the .mbm file in a "sent" folder so that I can take it back on the client.

Any ideas about that ?

Going on for now, we'll later have to see how MBM can be linked in both ways with Daylite (I saw a dedicated topic about that).

As soon as MBM has loaded the document you can move it as it no longer needs it.
