How to transfer iCash account data to a new computer

Topics

Question: I'm in the process of handing over my role as treasurer for a small charity to a different person - I have kept the accounts using iCash. The new treasurer is going to get iCash after which I will want to be able to give her the iCash data file for the charity account so that she can open it on her computer and continue the role. I also use iCash for personal accounting (using a different account with the program).

I have looked through the online manual and FAQs but can't find what I'm looking for. My question is twofold: (1) how do I export the charity's data file and (2) how do I ensure that my personal account data doesn't go with it? Thanks. Andy

Answer: iCash is a document-based software like for example MS Word or Excel. Indeed, with those applications, any document you create will be saved to a '.doc' or '.xls' file. It is similar with iCash, any document you create will be saved as a single '.icash' file. All you have to do is to localize your iCash document on your hard drive and copy it to the new location.

In order to localize an iCash document on your hard drive just select it in the iCash File Manager and use the 'File ▸ Show File' menu:

That will show where your file is located on your hard drive by opening the enclosing folder.

In addition, you can see the select document file path at the File Manager window bottom.
