unrecognised application icon

When I upgraded to the last version 8.4.1, all newsletter icons show as GraphicConverter files. I can only open documents opening first MaxBulk mailer and then doing "file", "open".
How can I correct the problem? I'm using Max os 10.6.8

Select a document and use the Finder 'Get Info' menu, then set the application for that document.
