Importing CSV/Tab separated recipients

Hi all

Just testing the product before we purchase, the client I'm working for currently uses 1stMacMailer, which we plan to move away from.

They have around 10,000 contacts on there, in various groups, which I can export as CSV/Tab separated files for import into where ever else.

I go to import the file, and get the issue where symbols are added before the email address, thus meaning that they can't be imported. The email address ends up looking like this -

ÀõÀá[email protected]

The CSV text file opens fine in any other program, so I know that it's not a fault at the export side of things.

I can edit the odd one, but there are too many contacts and groups to manually do anything.

Anyone had any similar issues/know what's going on?

That junk is on your file, what you see on the import left column is your data as is with no modifications. Have you tried the tab delimited file format?

Hi, thanks, yeah tried with Tab, and get a similar issue. The files import fine into Outlook etc, so the export looks pretty solid.

I'm going to have another crack at it today, but cannot for the life of me put it together as to why those rogue symbols are appearing.

Check the file encoding. Is it UTF-8 or MacRoman?
