Hi,
just updated from iCash 7.4.7 (which was running fine) to iCash 7.4.9 and ... the new version crash on startup.

I have already followed the instructions in the FAQ but ... the crash remains :(

Enclosed you will find the OSX crash report ...

Please note that if I start the 7.4.7 still all work fine.

Any idea ?

Thanks in advance,

Guglielmo

The only differences between 7.4.7 and 7.4.9 are minor fixes:
[Fix] Lowest transaction date has been changed from 1980 to 1970.
[Fix] 'By category' Statistics are now working again.
[Fix] 'By category' Statistics column headers fix.
[Fix] Transaction sorting by date failure in given occasions.
[Fix] Problem when computing the query/find total when multiple currencies.
[Fix] Query result 'Select All' now also show the selection total.
[Fix] Query 'Into' account pull-down menu displaying deactivated accounts.
[Fix] Several interface aesthetics fixes.
[Fix] Budget list is now sorted alphabetically.
[Fix] Budget semiannually payment calculation is now accurate for custom dates ranges.
[Fix] In the transaction panel, transactions sorted by date are now also sorted by record number.
[Fix] Groups/Splits not properly sorted in given occasions.
[Fix] Several Mountain Lion fixes.

I don't see what could make your version crash :-/

I don't know what to say, you know your program and you see my crash report ...

As a developer, the only two things that I guess could cause problems, are the "Several interface aesthetics fixes" and "Several Mountain Lion fixes".

I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and the ONLY program that show this behavior is iCash 7.4.9 (... I also tried different competitors programs, importing my data, and all work fine :( ).

Few programs have shown problems using 3D with the graphics card : "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB" but, disabling 3D, has temporarily solved the problem, waiting for a new version. I don't know if this help.

Let me know,
Thanks in advance,

Guglielmo

So it crashes when launching the application, have you tried to delete the preference file?

I delete all files with AppDelete, next I looked for any file containing "icash" with "Find Any File" and I delete the remaining ...

Started again icash 7.4.9 and still crash on start (enclosed the new crash file).

Some more info on the iMac :

27" iMac late 2012
Processor: 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB
Software: OS X 10.8.2 (12C2037)

Let me know if you need more info ...

Cordially,

Guglielmo

Just for test, I tried on a different OLD iMac, 24" early 2008, with an old NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS 512 Mb, same OSX and the program start normally, so ...

... should be a problem or with the new HW (Graphics card, Fusion Drive, ...) or some SW driver (... that you can verify on the Crash report).

Hope this help ...

Hum, I don't know, iCash uses system libraries for everything except for accounting stuff.

The iCash preference file is located here: '~/Library/Preferences/Maxprog/iCash/

Verified ... no ~/Library/Preferences/Maxprog/iCash/ when the app crash.

More test ...

1. Loan Calc (the one included with the 7.4.9 release) start without problems

2. iCash 7.4.9 crash on start and DON'T create the preference file

3. iCash 7.4.7 start without problems and CREATE the preference file.

4. With or without the preference file, iCash 7.4.9 still crash.

The crash report does not help you ?

Let me know ...

TIA

OK, I have done the job for you ...

I don't know what you have changed between the 7.4.7 and the 7.4.9, but, what you have changed conflicts with Intego VirusBarrier X6.

If I temporary disable the VirusBarrier X6, iCash 7.4.9 start and run fine. If I reenable the VirusBarrier, iCash 7.4.9 crash again on start.

Due to the wide diffusion of VirusBarrier, I suggest you to contact Intego (http://www.intego.com/) and to find a solution with them.

Awaiting for a new release solving the problem,

Cordially,

Guglielmo

P.S. : Please note that one time iCash 7.4.9 is started, I can reenable VirusBarrier and iCash continue to work fine. So ... it's just something you do at beginning of the program.

Good!, anyway, you should contact that developer, they are the culprit here, a false positive and a bug in there application. I don't think VirusBarrier is so common else I would have received at least another report, perhaps it is common in your country.

The only task iCash does when launching is reading its preference file.

An anti-virus software is supposed to be transparent and should never crash other applications.
