Hi,

I have just bought the full packages.

I have setup Gmail for Business IMAP, I can conenct and it starts fetching headers but it systematically stops at email 13...

7/7 16:32:18 > A0014 FETCH 12 RFC822
7/7 16:32:18 * 12 FETCH (RFC822 {2569}
7/7 16:32:18 ~ Mail Subject: 'Chapon aux morilles, purée de carottes et courget'
7/7 16:32:18 ~ Applying rules to "Chapon aux morilles, purée de carottes et courget"
7/7 16:32:18 ~ No bounce found.
7/7 16:32:18 ~ Status: Messages downloaded = 12 of 1980
7/7 16:32:18 > A0015 FETCH 13 RFC822

I tried restarting many times and still the same problem.

I am on Mac using the latest version.

Thanks,

Yvan

Re: Gmail Issue

Do you mean the server never responds to the 'A0015 FETCH 13 RFC822' command?

Re: Gmail Issue

Hi,

2/ Yes it seems to get stuck at 13 all the time. I am even playing with the settings by changing the security options. Just as we speak it now goes to 'Getting message 14' but gets stuck again. I have 2004 messages to go. I have tried again and it is stuck again at 13:
Code:
7/9 11:30:03 * 12 FETCH (RFC822 {2569}
7/9 11:30:03 ~ Mail Subject: 'Chapon aux morilles, purée de carottes et courget'
7/9 11:30:03 ~ Applying rules to "Chapon aux morilles, purée de carottes et courget"
7/9 11:30:03 ~ No bounce found.
7/9 11:30:03 ~ Status: Messages downloaded = 12 of 2004
7/9 11:30:03 > A0015 FETCH 13 RFC822

Could it be the accents (i.e. é) in the title that cause the problem?
Also, it seems to be re-authenticating at this stage, before trying to fetch the header of email 13, or maybe the eMail Bounce tries to re-authenticate because it is stuck at #13.

2/ Also I check 'Skip the messages greater than' and it is even worse as it does not even fetch one message:

Code:
7/9 11:27:26 ~ Status: Connecting to imap.gmail.com (IMAP) Port: 993 Security: SSL v3
7/9 11:27:26 * OK Gimap ready for requests from 81.149.222.69 l1if8035834wiz.97

Re: Gmail Issue

I think the problem is Gmail. If you look at this forum, 9 of 10 posts is about problems Gmail. Gmail servers are doing everything to make bulk software fail. Gmail is a system to send and receive single messages from family and friends. eMail Bounce Handler works perfect with any other server.

Re: Gmail Issue

I have the gmail for business account not sure it makes a difference though. Does anyone has an idea?

Well in this case we are just fetching headers not even sending. Therefore it should be like any email clients downloading headers. In addition, sending emails with gmail works fine for me at the moment I have been doing tests inside out but for a limited number of emails I have to say. I will try testing large bulk today.

It is hard to investigate but I have the feeling that there is an issue on how certain headers are handleded.

Re: Gmail Issue

Hi,

With Gmail Pro account I was able to send +400 emails in one batch with 3 simultaneous connections. I am surprised we cannot just get headers from imap or POP using email bounce handler. I always get stuck at header 13...

I am using many email clients for the same accounts: Apple mail, Outlook 2010 with Gsync, on my iphone and on my ipad. I have no problem downloading emails from any of these clients.

And I have just installed Mozilla Thunderbird for Mac, using IMAP to fetch the headers and it all worked fine. I really believe this is a bug on the application side. This is emulating a mail client there is no reasons that it does not work. Sending emails I can understand on a free server (and I am using the pro version) but fetching headers I am skeptical.

Best,

Re: Gmail Issue

That has nothing to do with headers, it has to do with Gmail not responding to a command. You send a command and all you get is silence, you can see it yourself, no response, no error, nothing. As I told you almost 10 of 10 problems in this forum have Gmail implied, it is amazing. I am really considering placing a note everywhere on this site 'Gmail incompatible' because I don't know what to do. All our software follow internet RFC lines by lines. All our software is compatible with all known servers and Google is the very only one that gives problems. My advice, run from Google as far as you can. Use the mail server you get for free with any web package, they all works great. I wish Gmail would never exist, it is real junk.

Hi,

I have updated the title to "Gmail & ISP Issue" because I am having the same problem with my email provider.

Before I give you more details, I really think ' eMail Bounce Handler' should work to get the emails because it should be acting like any email clients such as Thunderbird, Apple Mail and others. I can understand that sending can be throttled by Gmail (Still I have a corporate gmail account) but downloading I am surprised.

But anyway, I am currently trying with my Domain name registrar and email provider Gandi. I have the same problem, it stops now at the second email out of 4 i have in the inbox. Sending works fine with BulkMailer and I have installed Thunderbird to download and send email and again everything is working fine.

But Email Bounce Handler is getting stuck again. Here are the settings.

Workaround: Playing with the settings, I was able to download all the emails by selecting "Security:None". I guess there is an issue on the way the application manages security.

Code:
7/12 18:53:55 ~ Status: Connecting to mail.gandi.net (IMAP) Port: 993 Security: SSL v3
7/12 18:53:55 * OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE AUTH=PLAIN] Dovecot ready.
7/12 18:53:55 ~ Status: Connected to IMAP server

Yes, it is recommended not to use SSL indeed. There may be a reconnection problem with given servers. This is a known issue.
