domain has exceeded the max defers and failures per hour

Hi

I tried to send a message to 424 people with MBM. The software reported that all messages have been successfully sent in 5 minutes and 34 sec.

But then I get 360 "mail delivery system" messages in my inbox with that report : "domain mydomain.org has exceeded the max defers and failures per hour (5/5 (22%)) allowed. Message discarded."

I wonder why. Is this a limitation of my website host (HostPapa) ?

Where does that bounce come from?

The messages come from Mail Delivery System <[email protected]>

I understand, it looks like your server is counting failures and you have reached the maximum. Hotmail does something similar. I hope you understand what I mean.

Is it a SMTP server restriction ?

Yes it is. For example when you send a message to hotmail addresses, as soon as you reach a given amount of failures all other messages to hotmail addresses will bounce. Hotmail does that to protect their users from spammers.
