Complications with Hyperlinks, Formatting, and Stats on the same version of Maxbulk

The document with issues has perhaps invisible control characters in the text. Have you tried to clean it? Sometimes I clean text with BBEdit. That application is available here. The menu to clean text is 'Text > Zap Gremlins'. You can tell the app the replace with a big dot like '•' so you can see if there is a problem or not. Finally you can copy and paste the text back to MaxBulk Mailer. BBedit will remove anything that is not text and may fix encoding issues.

Also, the same Maxbulk program having the HTML issues is now deleting all recipients after successfully sending and saving an email. This issue started a couple of weeks ago. We are probably going to switch to another email program, but I thought you should be aware of this new issue.

Deleting recipients? Can you explain how that happens? The recipients on the document? on the saved lists? MaxBulk Mailer has no code to delete recipients on its own.

I don't really know what's going on. It's the same computer that is having all the formatting issues as well. Whether we use an existing email template or create a new email from scratch. Once the message has been sent to all recipients, we save and close. When we reopen all of the recipients have been removed.

Ok, but are actually saving the recipients as a list in the 'Message' field? Let me explain how it works.

In the 'Message' field there is a pull-down menu to select lists. The pull-down menu has a 'Save current list as' menu. Just on the right you also have a 'Save' button. You use the menu when you first save a list and the button when you want to save updates. That saves the lists to the software so you can later select the saved list.

In the MaxBulk Mailer preferences, the first panel, the one labeled 'Document', there is a 'Save recipient list' option. That makes MaxBulk Mailer save the list with delivery statuses to the document. That way, when you open back the document you will get the list of recipients your message was sent to with all delivery statuses.

Ok, saving the list seemed to fix the problem.

Regarding the other issues (scrambled formatting), one thing that seems to resolve the issue is if we "turn off" stats. So, there must be something being added when the stats are turned on that is manipulating the links and scrambling the structure. We'll continue experimenting with that to see if we can't get it to work properly.

Yes indeed, when MLM is activated all your URLs are modified so they can be tracked. It is very important that the MLM URL is valid. You can check MLM from the preferences, second panel by selecting the 'Diagnose' menu:
