Hi everyone,
I've just been doing some testing with my text/html email. I've put the plain text version before the html version in the message tab in MaxBulk Mailer and I have text/html set as the format. When I have my testing software (entourage for the mac) set to recieve html, everything is fine, ie. full html version is displaying perfectly, but when I uncheck "display complex html messages" in the entourage preferences in order to test the plain text, what is displayed seems to be a rich text version of the html. I mean a background colour is applied to the message window and all the text is displayed left aligned with working links.
It looks like maxbulk mailer didn't send the text version, and therefore entourage is styling a text version on its own. I mean plain text should be plain text right? Without any colour or styling whatsoever and entourage should be using my version of the plain text as sent via maxbulk and not creating a version on the fly.
Perhaps I've set it up incorrectly in MaxBulk Mailer - can anyone tell me what I might have done wrong?
Thanks for the support. |

| This has nothing to do with MaxBulk Mailer actually. If you try with Mail you will find out it works perfect. However Entourage has a lot of bugs and weird behaviors, this is an example of one of them. I would say that Entourage is almost unusable for testing purposes. |

Thanks for the reply,
When you say it works in Mail, I'm not sure what you mean because if I go into preferences, then the viewing tab and uncheck "Display images and embedded objects in html messages", then test, the full html still comes in with the exception that the images don't display and there's a message that says "This message contains unloaded images".
I'm not sure whether this just means that Apple Mail totally supports html and therefore there'll never be a situation where the plain text version will be used. Is this right? I know I'm on a mac and I need to test on pc email readers, but I just want to make sure that in the event that html isn't supported by the email client, that the true plain text version will be delivered. |

With Mail, use the 'View | Message | Plain Text Alternative' to get the alternative text displayed. The 4 menus right below are also related to messages with alternative. What you have done actually only prevents Mail from downloading online contents.
About your second statement, I only say that Entourage doesn't provide an easy way to display an alternative as Mail does. Entourage decides on its own what is the best and if the HTML is simple is simply display it removing other contents. This is not standard. |
