Dear Madam, dear Sir:

today, I just learned to know about your application, and it seems to be very interesting to me. Before trying it "really", I have a question:

I think that it's better not to send too many emails in one time in order that they won't become defined as SPAM by the provider. I'd like to send an email (with a PDF attachment) to approx. 700 recipients, and I would like to know if I shall split them into several groups.

So please, can you recommend me:
a) how many recipients in one group &
b) in which time intervalls shall I email.

Thanks for your kind help in advance.
Jana

Yes, the slower the better. Usually you have to find out how much time you have to send your message. Then set the group and the interval accordingly.

For example let say you want to send your message overnight, that would be a 12 hours window. If you choose an interval of 5 minutes, you have to set the group to 700/144= 5

Another example, you want to send that message during lunch time, that would be around 2 hours. If you choose an interval of 5 minutes, you have to set the group to 700/24= 30

In both cases set Connections to 1.

Hi Stan

This 'inquiry' sounds a bit bogus.

But one question as a result. You say:

In both cases set Connections to 1.

Wouldn't it be better to establish more connections (I have mine set to 25) or am I not understanding this setting correctly?

Thanks.

Eric

The 'Connections' setting enables you to open several simultaneous SMTP sessions to the same server. This is to speed-up deliveries, not to send at a slower pace. It is like comparing a hunting gun with an automatic assault riffle. When a user is interested in matching the delivery limits imposed by its server postmaster I always recommend to set the 'Connections' parameter to 1. Now, if you have no limits and you want your messages to be delivered as fast as possible then use 5 or 10 connections. Only if the server is located in your network you can use more that 10 connections. In fact if you don't have enough bandwidth 25 connections will be slower than 10.
