Suddenly getting "read" and "not read" r

I've been using maxprog for over a year; suddenly, starting a month ago, I started getting read and not read responses to my messages. I probably set something by accident- how can I turn this off?

Just deactivate the 'Return Receipt' from the Message panel.

It's not checked, never has been. My understanding is that checking it increases the chance of being flagged as spam? But I'm still getting return receipts.

When you check it you get Return Receipts. This is its very only functionality.

Once again, I did not check it. I did not check it, yet I am stll getting responses like "Not read: [-WME] February First Friday Open Studios (This Friday!)" (subject) and

Subject: [-WME] February First Friday Open Studios (This Friday!)
Sent: Mon, 3 Mar 2008 00:20:47 -0400

was deleted without being read on Wed, 2 Apr 2008 11:25:12 -0400<mime-attachment>

This has only started in the last 5 weeks.

I don't know then. This is exactly what you get when checking the 'Return Receipts' check box.

It all depends whether you want to receive return receipts or not. This check box only adds a header to your messages asking for it.
