What gives? We use tags with all of our many databases. But I just found out that if you uncheck 'Delivery - Singly' in the Settings window, the tag/info disappears??? This is not supposed to happen is it?
Eric
The help info says this about tags:
9.- Using Tags to customize e-mails
The feature that sets MaxBulk Mailer above a normal e-mail client like Eudora, Entourage or Mail, for e-mail marketing purposes is its e-mail merge personalization options. You can use the special tags [FullName], [Firstname], [Surname], [Company] and [E-mail Address] in order to customize each message with recipients data. Or using any of the 14 date tags available in order to insert the current date and the internal tags to add information about the current delivery. These personalization options are accessed through both the tags pull-down menu and the "Edit | Insert tag" menu. For example you could start your message that way:
Hi [Firstname] [Surname],
Chicago, [Month] [Day], [Year] we are proud to announce... |

Yes. 'Singly' means one message per recipient. If you uncheck 'Singly' you will send in bulk mode. Bulk mode is like Bcc. In bulk mode you send the same message to all the recipients at once (or grouped). Bulk mode is faster but there is no way to customize the messages. Actually you send the message to the server once, then the list of recipients.
From the manual:
Bulk Preferences: If you don't use the personalization options of MaxBulk Mailer, you are missing out on one of its' most powerful features. However, you can speed up processing and sending of messages that aren't personalized by un-selecting the Singly option. If checked mails are sent one by one, showing recipient "To:" header. This allows mail merge tags to be replaced by their corresponding values depending on each entry. If not checked, mails are sent to all recipients at once. Note: the list is never sent to the recipient. Default 'To' header: is set to 'Undisclosed-Recipients' by default when sending bulk mails to avoid forwarding scripts to insert a 'To' header on the fly showing recipient list. This 'To' header can be overwritten with whatever you need. It is highly recommended to use small groups than 'All at once' to avoid 'Insufficient storage' SMTP errors. |
