Hi!

i tried to fit in a Link to my Website into the Mail.
i used the hyperlink Manager for it.
when i recognized that the link is not active (with a testmail), i tried different types of adresses. i tried http://www.xxx.eu or www.xxx.eu or just xxx.eu
all the different types are not being links to the website in the testmail.

When i tried to use the link, i saw a note when the cursor was on the link :
x-msg://27/www.xxx.eu
(when i write xxx i mean that i used a functually Website Adress)

On any Links where the same type of note. As i said before, i tried it in 4 different types of writing.

So, what did i do wrong?

Regards

Don

Only 'http://www.xxx.eu' is correct. A URL should include the protocol. In this case 'http://'. This is an example how it looks like: hyperlink editor.

Tried every permutation of http scheme for a hyperlink and could not get it to show an active link although a previous mailout worked fine (after endless tweaking). Finally had to use previous mailout message and paste over the text except for the working link and re-save as a new file. Although the link looked exactly the same <<address>>, it now works.

Any ideas why that's happening? Now on 5.3, was the same on the previous version too.

Not sure what your problem is but if the URL is properly entered it should always work. What URL do you have problems with?

MY problem looks like <<www.learnphotoshop.net>> in the preview and was entered in the hyperlink manager as http://www.learnphotoshop.net. It looks like it should work and I use hyperlinks all the time in Mail and other programs. Oddly, hyperlinks in my signature in preview are "hot" as in blue type and when clicked take me to a page right there in preview. This problem of mine is vexing since I've approached it every way I can think of.

The actual website address shouldn't make any difference. Even if it was a bogus made-up name, the link should still be available. Do I need to use quotations or other html code, please?

Hyperlink editor asks for 2 values, 'Name' and 'URL'. What do you use for each one? Also, what format are you using for your message, styled text?

Using Styled Text format, I'm successfully linking to a site and 1 e-mail address but not another e-mail address. Using mailto: at the beginning of the e-mail address it doesn't work on 1 of my e-mail addresses. I've re-edited many times thinking I might have made a typo or included a space. I've even pasted the address from an e-mail delivered in mail. It's my own address so it's not like I don't know it. It doesn't appear in Preview correctly but with the greater and lessers <<name@domain.com>> and it appears the same in a test mail-out. It's at the end of a message, before the signature. Maybe I need to add a line break or something else unknown?

Can you tell me what that address is? What do you use for Name and URL? That way I could try to reproduce here.

eMail: xxxx xxxxxx (is the text)
mailto:xxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com (is the url)

Would you mind deleting this post after you've tested it?

Thanx

I have tried your data here, in styled text format, with the link tag as the only text in the message, it works fine. Does it for you?

Never got it to work for my address. Using the same method, it worked for someone elses address just fine in a paragraph above. I finally just went around the problem by saying that readers could respond to the message (but I really wanted the link to be to a different address, the one I sent you). If I ever figure out what the weirdness is, I'll post it.

Thanx,
