One thing which I would find useful is that when you open a mailer file, it remembers the recipients but DOES NOT remember the actual recipient list it came from. If you change something and press save it will ask you for a filename. if you want to overwrite the original you have to remember it's name and type it exactly the same. Personally I think the original recipient list name should be memorised when you save a mailing.

This is intended actually. A document will show the list as it was at delivery time and save statuses. Re-selecting the list will show the list as it is today reseting all statuses.
